Building a Safer Future: Our Fence Fundraising Project

When people visit Smith Farm Goat Sanctuary, they often see happy goats, beautiful pastures, and a peaceful place where animals can live out their lives in safety. What many don't see is the constant work happening behind the scenes to maintain a farm that was never designed to support the growing needs of a sanctuary.

Today, we're excited to share some progress on one of our most important projects to date: replacing failing perimeter fencing across the farm.

We've Raised $8,500 Toward Our $22,000 Goal!!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we've already raised $8,500 toward our $22,000 fence project goal. Every donation, shirt purchase, and shared social media post has helped move this project forward, and we couldn't be more grateful.

While that number is worth celebrating, we still have a long way to go.

Why the Fence Project Matters

As a goat sanctuary, safe and secure fencing isn't a luxury, it's a necessity.

Several of our existing perimeter fences have reached the end of their lifespan and are beginning to fail. Aging posts, damaged wire, and deteriorating materials create safety concerns for both our resident goats and the long-term sustainability of the sanctuary.

When we began researching solutions, we obtained quotes from multiple fencing companies. Unfortunately, the cost of professional installation was far beyond what our young nonprofit could afford. Our lowest quote was over $55,000 to complete the perimeter.

Rather than putting the project on hold, we got creative.

Stretching Every Dollar

Through the generosity of skilled volunteers and community supporters, we were able to secure free labor for the project. This means that every dollar raised through this campaign goes directly toward purchasing fencing materials rather than labor costs.

By utilizing volunteer labor, we're able to complete the necessary work while being responsible stewards of every donation entrusted to us.

Progress So Far

Because of your support, we've already purchased materials for our two most critical enclosures on the farm—areas where fence failure posed the greatest risk to our herd. This is a huge milestone and one worth celebrating. However, four additional enclosure perimeters are desperately in need of new fencing to prevent goat escapes and intruders. Until those areas are addressed, our work isn't finished.

How You Can Help

There are several ways you can to support this critical project to protect our herd:

Donate to Our Fence Fund

Every contribution, large or small, helps us move closer to completing the remaining four enclosures and reaching our $22,000 goal.

Your donation will go directly to purchasing the materials needed to replace our perimeter fencing and ensure security for the goats who call Smith Farm home. You can donate directly to our GoFundMe HERE

ALL DONATIONS ARE 100% TAX DEDUCTIBLE.

Purchase a Fundraising T-Shirt

Our adorable fundraising t-shirts are available now, and proceeds from every purchase go directly back to the farm. You can have the shirts delivered to your doorstep or to the sanctuary for pickup. Not only are you helping fund critical infrastructure improvements, but you're also helping introduce more people to our mission every time you wear it. This "Live Like Someone Left The Gate Open" t-shirt was created specifically for our fence fundraising campaign because the goats are doing just that!

Attend an Event and Share Our Story

Even if you're unable to donate at this time, attending one of our upcoming events and sharing your experience with friends, family, coworkers, and others makes a tremendous difference. Community support has brought us this far, and it will help carry us across the finish line. You can view all of our Upcoming Events here: https://www.smithfarmgoatsanctuary.org/event-list. Our Current Fence Heroes

We'd like to thank our current Fence Heroes for their donations of $500 or more! Their level of support for this initiative has helped us secure materials for our 2 most critical enclosures . By becoming a Fence Hero they will have their personal or business name on a permanent "Fence Heroes" plaque displayed prominently at the sanctuary to show their significant contribution. If you'd like to become a Fence Hero and have a permanent personalized plaque at the sanctuary with your name or business, find out more HERE

Every fence post, every roll of wire fencing, every board and every completed enclosure is a reminder of what we can accomplish together.

We've raised $8,500. We have $13,500 left to go.

With your help, we can finish the remaining four enclosures and ensure our goats have safe, secure fencing for years to come.

Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us build a stronger future!
